How to Fake a Tan without Looking Fake!

Whether you’re planning a spring break getaway, laidback stay-cation or getting wedding ready, sporting a gorgeous glow (without the sun’s rays) is easy... we'll show you how to fake it with the best of them!

Check out our guide to a healthy-looking, golden faux tan that’s made in the shade:

Exfoliate first. Think of it as spring cleaning for your skin—or better yet, a stay-at-home mini spa. Sloughing off drying, dead skin cells helps ensure an even-looking tan. While showering, massage skin gently with ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste. (A sugar and salt exfoliating scrub that brightens after just one use? Yes, please.) Then rinse and pat dry.

Get your glow on. Apply ESSENTIALS Foaming Sunless Tan to desired areas, blending evenly and thoroughly. Try not to linger on elbows, knees, ankles to prevent color from concentrating. Our lightweight, oil-free formula makes it simple, and our video offers even more great tips. Wash your hands after finishing, and wait 15 minutes for skin to feel dry. Then opt for loose clothing for 3 to 4 hours (just imagine you’re on easy, breezy island time).

Go for a smooth finish. It’s true that RF-Dcell technology in our sunless tan extends the duration of your faux glow, but moisturizing helps too. Once skin has thoroughly dried, smooth on ESSENTIALS Daily Body Moisturizer and reapply over the next three days so your flawless-looking tan lasts longer.

Now that you’ve gotten a hint of color the healthy way, keep up your sun smarts. A fabulous tan doesn’t shield you from the sun’s UVA/UVB rays, so always protect your skin with a broad spectrum sunscreen, and wear sunglasses and a hat before heading outside.

Here’s to showing off your inner and outer radiance all year long.
